COMPOST2018: Green Sports Leader and Renowned Environmental Philanthropist Open and Close First Conference in Atlanta!
RESTON, VA — In a year of rapidly growing composting infrastructure, COMPOST2018, the national gathering of the compost industry, will focus on the expansion of financing and business development, evolving technologies and new collection points such as events venues, with Green Sports Alliance chair Scott Jenkins as keynote speaker and philanthropist Laura Turner Seydel as closing keynote speaker.
The 26th Annual Conference will be held in Atlanta, GA Jan. 22-25, 2018 at the Peachtree Westin Hotel. It is expected to draw more than 1,000 compost manufacturers, collectors of food scraps and green waste, equipment providers, academics, scientists and compostable products manufacturers.
“The explosion of compost permitting regulations, facilities, organics diversion laws, markets for compost and new products and technologies will bring a diverse mix of products to see and things to learn at this year’s conference,” said Frank Franciosi, executive director of the USCC.
Super Bowl Worthy Speakers
Scott Jenkins, who will open the conference, is the general manager of the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium, providing insight into the planning and construction of the new multi-purpose facility leading up to its opening this fall after which he will manage the operations of the stadium. He is also President and Chair of the Green Sports Alliance.
Laura Seydel, who will give the closing keynote, inherited her passion for taking care of the planet from her father, Ted Turner, who created the 1990s animated series Captain Planet. She is now Chairperson of the Captain Planet Foundation which supports high-quality, hands-on environmental stewardship projects that have enabled more than 1.1M youth across the U.S. and around the world to make significant environmental improvements to their schools or communities.
