CalRecycles has issued a report that gives significant support to the conclusion that 80% of landfill gases escape. The report utilizes a new evolving technique, which a office connected to EPA has been developing over the past nine years, which has the potential to provide much more reliable information about methane fluxes with a snapshot across the entire surface of a landfill that includes the hot spots where most gases escape through cracks.
